AI Readiness & Strategy for Marketing Leaders

Move past the hype. Find the use cases that actually matter, build the foundations to support them, and put them live with confidence.

Every senior marketing leader is under pressure to do something with AI right now. The board wants a strategy, the vendors are all promising transformation, and the team is excited and overwhelmed in equal measure. It's a lot. So most organisations do one of two things: they move too fast without the right foundations, or they get stuck in endless evaluation because the picture feels too unclear to act on.

We've seen both, and we know what each one costs. We've spent years building Digital Transformation and AI readiness frameworks, working out what organisations actually need before they commit to anything, and helping senior leaders tell the genuinely useful from the genuinely overhyped.

This isn't about chasing the latest model or buying the most expensive platform. AI isn't a box to tick, it's about getting a clear and honest picture of where you are. Working out what AI can realistically do for your business right now is critical, as is being able to prove it was worth doing. That's the work we do together.

How we help

What we work through together

Finding the right AI use cases for your business

The hardest part of AI strategy isn't the technology. It's knowing where to start. There are dozens of possible entry points, and most organisations either try to do everything at once or default to the most visible use case without properly checking it stacks up.

We work with you to find the high-impact, high-feasibility use cases that are specific to your business. The ones where AI can deliver value you can measure quickly, without a two-year infrastructure overhaul first. That means looking at your objectives, your data, your team's capabilities and your current processes, and being honest about what's realistic now and what belongs in phase two.

Assessing your true AI readiness

Most organisations overestimate how ready they are for AI. Not because they're not capable, but because the gap between having data and having useful, structured, accessible data is bigger than it looks from the outside. The same goes for process maturity, governance and team capability.

Our readiness assessment covers six areas: data infrastructure, process maturity, team capability, governance, content foundations and strategic alignment. We built it specifically for marketing organisations going through this transition. It gives you an honest baseline. Not a score designed to sell you the next service, but a real picture of where the blockers are and how to clear them.

Building a phased roadmap from pilot to scale

A good AI roadmap isn't a list of tools. It's a structured path that takes you from a focused, well-defined pilot through to scaled implementation, with clear milestones and honest ROI benchmarks at each stage. Most organisations skip the pilot discipline, then wonder why adoption stalls six months in.

We help you build that path properly. Start with one or two use cases that prove real value quickly, build confidence and buy-in, then expand deliberately. Every stage has clear success criteria before you move to the next, because scaling something that isn't working yet only makes the problem bigger.

Proving impact and measuring what actually matters

This is the part most AI projects skip, and it's the part we care about most. Before any pilot goes live, we agree what success looks like in numbers. That might be hours saved, faster campaign turnaround, better conversion, lower cost per output, or revenue you can trace back to the work. Whatever it is, we pin it down upfront so there's nothing to argue about later.

Then we measure it. We take a baseline before you start, track the same metrics all the way through, and report on what actually changed. If a use case isn't delivering, you'll know early and we'll say so. AI is only worth doing if you can point to what it improved, and being able to prove that is what turns one pilot into board-level backing for the next.

Getting organisation buy-in for AI

One of the most consistent blockers to AI progress isn't technology or data. It's people. Teams that don't trust the outputs. Leaders who aren't aligned on the vision. A culture that's either resistant to change or rushing in without proper governance.

We work with you on the human side of this, not just the technical side. That includes building the internal story around AI adoption, spotting where resistance is likely to come from and why, and getting the right people (marketing, technology, operations and leadership) aligned before you commit to anything significant.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Honestly, most organisations are ready to start. They're just not ready to scale, and the difference matters. You don't need perfect data or a fully mature tech stack to begin experimenting, but you do need enough foundations in place to make a pilot meaningful. Our readiness assessment answers this properly, across six dimensions built for marketing organisations. It shows you where you are and what needs to happen before you commit serious investment.

We start with a discovery session about your business objectives and your current pain points, not about what AI can do. The question isn't "what can AI do?", it's "what problems are worth solving, and could AI be part of the answer?" From there we map possible use cases against your readiness and pick the one or two pilots worth running first. Starting small and learning fast beats a big-bang AI programme almost every time.

The initial strategy phase, from discovery through to a finished readiness assessment and a prioritised roadmap, usually takes 4 to 6 weeks. That's long enough to do it properly, without turning into a drawn-out consulting exercise that delays real progress. Implementation support after that depends on scope, but we always break it into phases with clear checkpoints, so you're never locked into a long engagement without visibility on what you're getting.

Enough to make it worthwhile, and we'll be honest about that. We typically need 2 to 4 hours a week from your core marketing and technical people during the strategy phase. It's not a huge commitment, but it does need the right people in the room, not just the ones who can be spared. The quality of what you get out is directly linked to the quality of what goes in, and we'll always be clear upfront about who we need and why.

That's a common starting point, and in some ways it's easier to work with than a blank page, because we've got real evidence to learn from. As long as you learn from it, every failure is progress. We'll look at what's been tried, what got in the way, and whether the issue is technical, organisational or strategic. Usually it's a mix. From there we help you reset on the right foundations and build a clearer path forward, instead of piling more effort onto something that isn't working.

Because we'll have agreed how to measure it before we start. We set a baseline, define the metrics that matter to your business, and track them the whole way through. You get straight reporting on what changed, not a deck full of activity. If something isn't delivering, we'll tell you, and we'll help you decide whether to fix it or stop. No box-ticking.
